Decade 3
I'm trying to learn about a lot of things and engage in living more deeply and fully in body, mind, spirit, and ecology and to more intentionally share about those discoveries.
Premonitions: January 5th
The cards said, "sometimes we all, like Salmon, must backtrack upstream to the headwaters, returning to source."
I feel most clear-headed when I am not trying to pursue a conventional path. There are many roles in life and I think mine tips towards edges, fringes, toward the imaginable re-narrating. My imagination was captured by Catholic Workers, creative non-violence,writers playfully and seriously crafting the stories they needed to bring into existence, by direct action and long-haul social movements. My life has gravitated towards programs, living in communities that are daring the failure, that are leaning into uncharted paths-- my world has always hinged on the fantastical, the spiritual, the literary, the radical.
These spaces unearth in me a centering that allows me to nurture and support the more defined work my friends engage. I am captivated by smallness, the exploratory and responsiveness I feel at a community level. The defiance of CW meant to me a simplicity of thought- to give a person a home if they were homeless, to defy consumerism's suggestions of need by finding meaning in a walk, a conversation, a letter, a tree. To see loaves multiplied by each person taking only what they needed, sharing what they had (a miracle indeed), defying hyper-individualism, to delight in personalism, mutuality, interdependence and to understand the toil of love in the weight of those burdens, to love our own bodies as a radical act.
My path in the world is through cups of tea, handwritten letters, reading & researching, connecting to the natural world, and trying to meet each person I encounter with my heart wide open and welcoming them (and myself) as our whole selves.
